Support: on the ice

BIFF has always been supportive our alumni. We like to take a moment to share an open letter from Cara Marcous producer of the feature film On The Ice this film is actually based on the short film Sikumi which screened at our festival back in 2008.

Currently Cara and her team our trying to raise the funds so that the film can receive a US theatrical release. Please see Cara’s open letter below. They only have a few hours left in-order to meet their kickstarter goal.

Dear friends,

If you haven’t heard all ready, Andrew MacLean’s award-winning Alaskan thriller ON THE ICE is running an exciting Kickstarter campaign to try to get distributed in the U.S. ON THE ICE won Best First Feature and the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, as well as the FIPRESCI Prize for Best New American Film at the Seattle International Film Festival. It is a stunning film unlike anything you have seen before and it deserves to be on the big screen.

From the critics:

“A Must-See” —Eric Kohn, indieWIRE.com
“captivating…fascinating”, —Ryland Aldrich, Twitch
“immensely appealing performances”, —Michael Read, San Francisco Film Society
“eerily suspenseful”, —Lindsay Jaeger, Sante Fe Reporter
««««, —Scott Knopf, Film Threat

We encourage you to take a moment and watch their Kickstarter video to learn more and consider pledging: http://kck.st/qwld86. THEIR TIME RUNS OUT THIS THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH!!!

Please also forward this on to your friends and family, and help this deserving film break through into theaters in a truly independent way.

Thank you,
Cara Marcous
