BIfflix Returns with Gun Hill Road
As you all are aware Bifflix has been on summer hiatus for a few months now. But as we enter the last month of summer I am please to announce that our monthly screening series will return on September 15, 2011. For the month of September we will be showcasing the independent drama Gun Hill Road.
In Gun Hill Road, an ex-con (played by Esai Morales) returns home to the Bronx after three years in prison to discover his wife (Judy Reyes) estranged, and his teenage son (Harmony Santana) exploring a sexual transformation that challenges the already fragile familial bonds.
The film made its debut at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it was a finalist for the esteemed Grand Jury Prize. It was at Sundance that the film was quickly acquired for distribution. Since then, it’s been played globally, screening for diverse engaged audiences, and building buzz along the way.
BIFF has always been at the forefront of showcasing independent cinema in Bermuda, we pride ourselves on programming a diverse slate of films to feed our Bermudian audience. We are extremely excited to present this thought-provoking film, which highlights the trails, tribulations, and struggles of sexual identity among today’s youth. Gun Hill Road is a film that will be sure to bring about discussion. We invite attendees to remain after the screening for a discussion panel in regards to the themes and topics presented within the film. Details on the post-screening discussion will be announced soon.
You can find all the screening details here.
Hope to see you there film fans.
